I
suppose if you’re a director directing your first movie you’d have a
hard job to beat this effort by debutant Christopher Nolan.
It’s a film that starts with
the end and works it’s way back to the beginning and in doing so gives
you a new end.
Guy Pearce seems to be getting
better with every film he does. He plays Leonard Shelby, a former insurance
broker with a rare short-term memory loss. The condition started shortly
after his wife was raped and killed and now he’s trying to piece together
the facts to find the killer.
He does this by taking photographs
of things with a Polaroid camera and writes notes on them. But as the
story goes backwards we see the photos first and then discover why he’s
written what he has on them.
Carrie-Anne Moss, of The Matrix
fame, stars alongside Joe Pantoliano also of The Matrix fame. In a bizarre
but very intriguing tale you find yourself um-ing and ah-ing and in
places laughing at a few pieces of black comedy.
This film is very original
and cleverly laid out and I highly recommend it.C.Y
