me,
myself and irene
From gentle to mental
This long
awaited comedy from the Farrely Brothers lived up to expectations in
two ways, it didn’t disappoint Jim Carrey fans and it wasn’t afraid
to cut right to the bone.
Essentially the story is based
on Carrey’s dopey cop character who has been suppressing his aggression
for years. He develops schizophrenia, an alter ego called Hank whom
is nothing but aggressive.
Irene comes into the film in
the form of Rene Zellweger who has information about her dodgy dealing
boyfriend. There’s the story in a nutshell.
If you put all that together
with some very funny, not very politically correct jokes, you have the
film. And it is very funny. Jim Carrey is so good at doing what he does
best he’s starting to relax a bit more in his roles.
From the franticness of Ace
Ventura to the more controlled franticness of Me, Myself and Irene.
So if you’re a J.C fan,
watch it. If you’re not, then stick to watching period dramas.
